DJ DOO WOP + LORD TARIQ
ANNOUNCE JOINT ALBUM ON SLIMSTYLE RECORDS
BX generals, DJ Doo Wop and Lord Tariq have announced a full-length collaborative album. The duo have begun recording and revealed a release via Slimstyle Records later this year.
For those fiending for 90’s era east coast boom-bap, Doo Wop and Tariq promise to hit the market with a strong dose. In addition the pair reveals that they are drawing in some of their favorite spitters and producers for an official New York affair.
Doo Wop has been called a “true mixtape pioneer” and “nicer on the mic than most full-time MC’s” by Unkut.com. A twenty year veteran, his 95 Live Mixtape was one of the first to feature solely exclusive tracks from an all-star list of emcees. As a live DJ he currently accompanies AZ and was Guru’s (Gangstarr) official mixmaster for the Jazzmatazz live shows. As a true anomaly, Doo Wop earns praise as a rhymer breaking the stigma of DJ’s and producers on the mic. He has dropped some gem tracks alongside Tony Touch (as The Diaz Brothers) and his crew, The Bounce Squad.
Lord Tariq is both a Bronx legend and an emcee’s emcee. He has rhymed on tracks with the likes of Jay-Z, Ghostface, Notorious B.I.G. and Big Pun. As a duo, Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz scored a platinum single on Columbia Records imprint, “Déjà vu (Uptown Baby).” In addition to his partnership with Peter Gunz, Tariq was also a vital member of respected rhyme-crews Money Boss Players and Bang Bang Boogie.
